Katalin Kramarics
Flute

Katalin Kramarics was born in Budapest in 1977 and received her first musical training at the age of twelve from Valéria Bánovská in Bratislava. She then continued her studies in Marta Braunsteinerová’s flute class at the Municipal Conservatory, where she graduated in 1995. In 1996, she began her studies at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest under Professor János Bálint and later transferred to the Mozarteum University in Salzburg to study with Professor Michael Martin Kofler. Even during her studies, she received numerous awards at international competitions, including the Prague Spring Competition, the Jean-Pierre Rampal Competition in Paris, the International Flute Competition in Cremona, and the Concertino Praga Competition, which she won in 1995.
Her professional orchestral career began in 1999 with a scholarship at the Orchestra Academy of the Munich Philharmonic. From 2001 to 2002, she was principal flutist of the Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK). In September 2002, she became principal flutist of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and, at the same time, a member of the Gewandhaus Wind Quintet. Since then, she has been firmly established in one of Europe’s most traditional orchestras.
In addition to her work with the Gewandhaus Orchestra, Kramarics regularly performs as a soloist with renowned ensembles, including the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the MDR Chamber Philharmonic, the Slovak Philharmonic, the Prague Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber orchestras in Salzburg and Prague. International guest appearances have taken her to the Edinburgh International Festival, among other venues, as well as regularly to Japan, where she also works closely with the instrument manufacturer PEARL Flutes.
Today she is also involved in teaching and instructs at the Mendelssohn Orchestra Academy in Leipzig. She plays a gold flute by PEARL (Handmade Maesta F9850, body 14K, head 18K).
