Canadian choreographer Virginie Brunelle makes her debut at the Mainfranken Theater with Vox et Spiritus. After graduating in 2008, Brunelle made a lasting impression with her debut work, Les cuisses à l’écart du coeur, which quickly garnered numerous awards. With Foutrement (2011), winner of the 2017 Audience Award at the CAM Touring Program, and Complexe des genres (2012), which won the prize at the Aarhus International Choreography Competition in Denmark, she established her unmistakable style: a visceral dance style that is both raw and sensitive, captivating audiences in Canada and across Europe. These two groundbreaking works now symbolize the breadth of her artistic range. Brunelle has since been active internationally. In 2018, Éric Gauthier invited her to choreograph for Gauthier Dance at Theaterhaus Stuttgart. Following the success of this collaboration, she returned to Stuttgart in January 2025 to create High Moon with the Gauthier Dance Juniors. It was there that she met Dominique Dumais, and we are delighted that she has come to Würzburg for this special choir project.
