News

10.9.2020
We are back from the summer break, motivated and ready for an exciting 20/21 season. Three premieres are scheduled for October in the new venue Theaterfabrik Blaue Halle at vac-Q-tec AG in Würzburger Dürrbachau.

Tickets for regular performances will go on sale in the middle of the previous month for the following month. This enables us to react flexibly and at short notice to changes due to the pandemic. As a matter of principle, we grant all subscribers of the 19/20 and 20/21 seasons advance ticket sales one day earlier than the box office opening day.

Due to the closure of the Mainfranken Theater at Theaterstrasse 21 for renovation reasons, the box office is currently located at the Falkenhaus on Oberen Markt. The entrance is located at the current entrance to the public library via the Hahnenhof alley right next to the Tourist Info.

Mainfranken Theater Becomes State Theater

Strengthening and further developing Würzburg as a theater location: This is one of the declared aims of an agreement that Bernd Sibler, Bavarian State Minister for Science and the Arts, and Würzburg's Lord Mayor Christian Schuchardt signed on 3 November, 2019.

Accordingly, the Mainfranken Theater is to be developed to become a state theater with the reopening of its renovated and expanded building for the 2022/23 season.
The Mainfranken Theater Würzburg holds a successful tradition of more than 200 years. Attractively situated close to the Würzburg Residence, the theater stages opera, drama, dance, as well as concerts of the Philharmonic Orchestra. It offers a versatile program with around 420 shows per season.
