Six Pieces for Orchestra, Op. 6
How is a composition structured? How are certain sound effects created, and what ideas lie behind a piece? In this new concert format, hosted by General Music Director Mark Rohde, the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra, together with the audience, takes a look behind the scenes at the creative processes behind selected masterpieces.
His music caused scandals in his day. Anton Webern—the former student of the twelve-tone master Arnold Schoenberg—is the focus of this first workshop concert. Here, you have the opportunity to experience Webern’s music from various perspectives in an entertaining setting, complemented by musical examples and background stories. The program features Webern’s Six Pieces for Orchestra, Op. 6, as well as his orchestral arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Ricercar à 6 voci, which will then be performed in its entirety. An event aimed at both classical music newcomers and experienced concertgoers who wish to gain a deeper understanding of a work and its context.
